I went and got the book at Borders, its $16.00, hardcover. I looked on amazon.com and it was only 11.50 but add shipping and handling it ends up being like $15 anyway. So I really hope by this weekend everyone feels aquainted with using this blog site and I hope that everyone goes out to get the book. It's a quick read which I think will be nice for our first book. Remember when you sign on you can either post a NEW POST or just go to VIEW BLOG and reply to other peoples new posts by clicking on comments. I hope you are all as excited as I am about this. First Book: A LONG WAY GONE
Written by Ishmael Beah. People magazine 4 stars: Terrifying, often graphic in prtraying violence he both witnessed and carried out as a barely adolescent soldier in Sierra Leone, 26-year-old Beah's story is also deeply moving, even uplifting. After rebel marauders murdered his family when he was 12, Beah roamed the countryside, sometimes alone, sometimes with other younger boys, often starving, always frightened. A desperate government teoop conscripted him, along with other boys, and he became a killing machine, fired up with cocaine and hallucinogens. Rehabilitated at 15, he moved in with his uncle and began a normal life, even attending a UNICEF conference in Manhattan. But on returning to Sierra Leone, Beah found warfare on his doorstep again and made a final escape to America.
Get it so we can start this weekend!!!!

I hope that everyone has this figured out by this weekend! Please, post something when you first get on and raed this so I know we're on the right track! Yeah! I'm so excited!
